CORE VALUE #8 – PROBLEM SOLVER

November 2021 – This month, we highlight Superintendent Josh Scully. While working on the new St. Paul’s Catholic Church sanctuary in Jacksonville Beach, Josh led the AWC team through numerous challenges to achieve project success. First and foremost, he managed the safety of our client, visitors to the adjacent school / family life center, and our team on an active campus with a tight site. It was necessary for him to be proactive and continually aware of the project’s surroundings to accommodate our client’s needs while maintaining schedule milestones, manpower, and material deliveries. This included adopting necessary protocols to mitigate the obstacles of the COVID-19 pandemic. He took rational, deliberate, and purposeful action, when needed, to keep the project within scope and on schedule.

Due to the complexity of the project, a strong team of AWC members was assembled. Josh led the team by keeping them motivated, on task and expressing his appreciation for their dedication. Additionally, he made sure to praise the value of their contributions to the project and AWC. From managing the 20,000+ man-hours of self-performed work to moving and coordinating the church’s 20 non-uniform, uniquely sized stained-glass windows from the old sanctuary to new, Josh took the reins and consistently provided the best results for the client. His optimal decision-making and strong attention to detail contributed to the project’s success.

Thank you, Josh, for your problem-solving and for being an exceptional leader to the next generation of builders!
