Building a Better Future: Auld & White Constructors and Women Build 2024
Auld & White Constructors (AWC) is honored to have partnered with kasper architects + associates, HabiJax, and Arize Together on the inspiring Women Build 2024 project. This collaboration aligns with our commitment to “Build a Better Future for Our People, Clients, and Community,” a mission that drives every endeavor. Women Build 2024 exemplifies the power of community, the impact of collective effort, and the profound changes that arise when we work together for the common good.
The Power of Community: Transforming Lives Together
Women Build is a nationwide movement empowering women to contribute to affordable housing solutions for women and families in need. By participating in this initiative, AWC supported the critical cause of providing a stable and secure home for a deserving individual. This year’s project focused on Shirley, a resident of Jacksonville whose life story is inspiring. Through her journey, we learned about the tangible impact of collaborative efforts and community support on an individual’s life.
Turning Dreams into Reality: Shirley’s New Home
Shirley’s journey to homeownership is a powerful narrative of resilience and hope. A resident of Jacksonville and a survivor of human trafficking, Shirley has faced significant challenges in her life. Her involvement with HabiJax’s Women Build program and the support from Arize Together have enabled her to become the proud owner of a new home in Murray Hill. This milestone is a victory for Shirley and a beacon of hope for others in similar situations.
Shirley has longed for a home where she can find safety and stability for herself and her family. Her new home represents more than just a physical space; it is a testament to her strength and determination. “To be able to look back and see it, even though I did not see the hope then, now I know that it is real,” Shirley shared. This sentiment captures what Women Build seeks to achieve—turning seemingly unattainable dreams into reality.
A Community United: Signing and Blessings
One of the most touching moments of the Women Build 2024 project was the structure signing ceremony held over a weekend in early February. Leaders from Arize Together, kasper architects + associates, AWC, and HabiJax gathered to write messages of hope and encouragement on the wood studs and internal structure of Shirley’s new home. These messages are now embedded within the house’s walls, symbolizing the community’s enduring support and prayers.
This event highlighted the deep connections and shared values that are the foundation of the Women Build initiative. It demonstrated the collective dedication to supporting individuals like Shirley, who are working tirelessly to rebuild their lives. The structure carries the unseen blessings of many, reflecting the ongoing commitment to building a brighter future for all.
Hands-On Contribution: Laying Sod and Painting
AWC’s involvement in Women Build 2024 extended beyond financial support. Our team eagerly participated in hands-on activities, including laying sod and assisting with interior painting. By rolling up our sleeves and working alongside our partners and volunteers, we reinforced our belief in the power of collective effort and community engagement.
Laying sod at the new home site was a significant moment for Team AWC. It was a tangible contribution to the beautification and completion of Shirley’s home, symbolizing new beginnings and growth. Similarly, participating with the interior painting was a fulfilling experience that brought us closer to the project and its purpose. These activities reinforce our dedication to making a meaningful difference in the communities where we work, live, and play.
Celebrating Shirley’s Achievement
The dedication ceremony for Shirley’s new home was a moment of immense joy and celebration. Surrounded by supporters, including representatives from AWC, kasper architects + associates, HabiJax, and Arize Together, Shirley expressed her gratitude and hope for the future. “I don’t think it has really sunk in,” Shirley said as she toured her new home. “I am grateful to make this house, my home.”

AWC’s involvement in this Women Build project aligns seamlessly with our mission to “Build a Better Future for Our People, Clients, and Community.” By supporting projects like Women Build, we continue contributing to our community and our legacy as a company rooted in Northeast Florida.
We believe in the power of coming together to create positive change. The Women Build project has proven that we can make a significant impact by uniting our resources, expertise, and passion. Shirley’s new home is an example of what can be achieved through collaboration, compassion, and a shared vision for a better future.
Looking Ahead
As we reflect on the success of Women Build 2024, we are inspired to continue our commitment to community involvement and support. AWC will remain steadfast in our efforts to build a better future, not just through our construction projects, but through active participation in initiatives that uplift and empower our community members.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to kasper architects + associates, HabiJax, Arize Together, and all the volunteers who contributed to this amazing project.
